Arborist Consulting Services

Looking for arborist consultation? The Real Tree Masters provides professional arborist consulting services.

What is included in a consultation?

There are many variables that can contribute to the need for a consulting arborist. From reports submitted to city forestry departments to assessing potential risks or health concerns, partnering with a consulting arborist can provide tremendous value. Check out some of the key services that require the expertise of consulting arborists at The Real Tree Masters:

  • Arborist Reports: arborist reports are prepared by a certified arborist following an assessment of a tree(s) in question. The report is submitted to the city’s forestry department with a thorough description of the tree, such as its location, species, health, issues or concerns, and lastly, proposed recommendations to address problems.
  • Minor Variance Arborist Reports: minor variance arborist reports undergo a similar evaluation process as a typical arborist report, but minor variances require the tree be evaluated for the “four tests” related to zoning by-laws ahead of a building permit being granted (or tree severance being allowed). Minor variance arborist reports also include consent to sever (or severance), as the official review process is conducted by the same committee.
  • Tree Permit Application Reports: in order for a tree to be removed from a property, a tree permit application must be submitted, using reporting from a certified arborist. In the review process, consulting arborists are assessing the tree’s species to evaluate whether it is protected or if the tree will have unintended consequences if removed.
  • Development Application Tree Reports: if you are planning for development on a new or current property, many permits are required ahead of the build. A key component of earning a permit is having a development application tree report submitted, which is done by a certified arborist following their assessment of the tree(s).

  • Butternut Health Assessment and Reporting: when conducting an assessment, and submitting the necessary reporting, for a butternut tree’s health, certified consulting arborists are evaluating whether or not (and to what extent) a butternut tree has been affected by a disease titled “butternut canker,” which can wreak havoc on a butternut tree.
  • Tree Inventory: tree inventory is the process of noting the location of trees that are in need of pruning or removal to mitigate risk, the value trees provide to an ecosystem, a count of the number of trees within the right-of-way of the public, and the number of available sites for planting new trees.
  • Tree Protection Plans: ahead of planned construction, tree protection plans are created by consulting arborists to keep trees and root systems safe. The plan allows for the construction project to be completed without unintended consequences by providing an outline of how current trees and landscape need to be avoided (and what must be done if that doesn’t happen).
  • Tree Risk Management: tree risk management is a process that certified arborists conduct (following necessary policies and procedures) to evaluate, monitor, avoid, and communicate any potential tree risks on a property. Tree risk management mitigates potential harm a tree can cause from falling branches, disease, or even the entire tree falling.
  • Tree Inspection: tree inspections also help manage the risk of potential trees, but tree inspections are conducted when there is a tree(s) that requires an evaluation of the risk to itself, the property, and/or the people on the property. Not only does a tree inspection assess the current conditions of a tree, but it also forecasts any future problems a tree may have or cause.
